I’ve noticed that there are lots of fanart around of young Gintoki (either alone or with Shiroyasha Gintoki) trying to pull at Yorozuya Gintoki, trying to get him not to walk away.
I feel that this is portraying the feelings inside Gin-san’s heart.
Yeah, I know, I’m being a bit cheesy here, but excuse me, I write fanfics concentrated on the inner state of Gin-san’s emotions regarding the past and the present. This analyzing is good for me.
Anyway, back on topic.
It feels like as though, in Gin-san’s heart, he feels that he needs to escape from the haunting memories of the past. This is often represented in fanarts by having the Yorozuya members (Kagura, Glasses, and Sadaharu-kun) in positions suggesting that Gin-san is about to follow them and walk out of the frame of the image. Gin-san’s back would be turned towards a “himself” of the past, be it young Gintoki or the Shiroyasha (or both). They’re sometimes portrayed as trying to hold onto Gin-san’s kimono, not letting him walk away.
I’ve seen more than several fanarts like this already.
